2014 week-44 South Sound chum Apple Cove Point purse-seine test fishery results (10/29/2014)

Test fishing for South Sound chum took place again yesterday (10/29) at Apple Cove Point, with moderately decent results. A total of 1,325 chum (plus 17 coho and 4 blackmouth chinook) were caught in six sets. The tide was already flooding at dawn and slack high was around 10:30 AM. There was a nuisance sea lion around during the first couple sets, but it was apparently gone after that. The subsample, weighted by the size of each set, gave a sex-ratio estimate of 51% females. The age distribution of the sample was:
